While shopping at guitar center over the weekend, I was sadly informed that the guys who make Technics turntables (Panasonic) will no longer be making turntables.

WHAT!? NO MORE TECHNICS!? WTF!?

After doing some digging around online, I found this:

A spokesperson for Panasonic said:

“It is a sad day today but due to low sales globally in analogue turntables a decision to stop production has been made on Technics Turntables.”

Truly a sad time in history… However, their web-site fails to mention the news at all:

Luckily, I already own a pair of Technics 1200 MKII’s. I’ve been told that the price of these bad boy’s will go up due to a new demand that has been created. Now the question is, to sell or not to sell?

Hi Tech-Heads!

The wait is finally over! The iPhone 4.0 OS has been released. My initial reaction to seeing a background picture on the springboard (the home screen with all the icons) had me JUICED!

Being an ex-3G user, the jump to the 3GS was large. Now, with OS 4.0, I’ve re-fallen in love with this device.

Listening to Pandora, chatting on AIM, checking facebook, searching google, all seamlessly is pretty amazing. There is no lag switching between apps. The browser seems faster too, but that might just be the product of being on a 3GS vs. the 3G I was previously on.

One thing I find dissapointing is that I can’t choose which applications to leave in the background. While Pandora stays open and streams in the BG, SHOUTcast, CastCatcher, and iheartradio all do not.

5x digital zoom in the camera is a pretty neat feature, as is the ability to lock the screen in portrait mode. That means you can lay down in bed and use your iPhone without having the screen annoyingly change orientation on you. This also really helps if you’re laying down enjoying a book from the newly supported iBook store.

For those of you who use Firefox as a browser, there is a plugin called Download Helper.

This cool little plugin can help you save your favorite youtube videos, and better yet, other types of streaming media.

As of current, the plugin isn’t available for Google’s Chrome browser, but maybe if we stay tuned they might push one out.

Most carriers provide their customers with special USB dongles (for a monthly price) that give you that needed data network access. But, who wants to pay MORE money for that USB dongle, when you are already paying for a data plan on your mobile device (cellphone, iphone, android, etc)?

This problem can be solved by using your mobile device as an internet connection. Certain mobile devices let you “tether” the internet connection, through a variety of different ways. Some devices can tether through a USB cable, others through Bluetooth, and sometimes even via WiFi. Other times you are not “allowed” to tether without using 3rd party software, although this software needs to be purchased (at a low price, and luckily only a one time payment).

Below is a list of possible ways to tether on certain popular devices.
